David Sacks: Tech Entrepreneur and Investor
Early Life and Career
David Sacks was born on May 25, 1972, in South Africa. He began his career in technology as an entrepreneur, founding several companies, including Zip2, a local search engine that was later acquired by Compaq.
Investment Career
After the sale of Zip2, Sacks turned his attention to investing. He joined PayPal in 2001 as its director of product management and later served as chief operating officer (COO) of the company. Following the acquisition of PayPal by eBay, Sacks went on to co-found Craft Ventures, a venture capital firm.
Notable Investments
Over the years, Sacks has invested in numerous successful technology startups, including Yammer, a social networking platform for businesses that was acquired by Microsoft; Airbnb, a peer-to-peer rental service; and Uber, a ride-hailing company.
Writing and Podcasting
Sacks is also an active writer and podcaster. He contributes regularly to Medium and other online publications. He is also co-host of the popular podcast "All-In," which covers technology, business, and current events.
