Barça maintain their 100% record in pre-season thanks to Lamine Yamal’s winner against UE Olot
Barça's pre-season preparations continued on Saturday with a 1-0 win over UE Olot at the Estadi Municipal d'Olot. Lamine Yamal scored the only goal of the game in the first half, as the Blaugrana made it three wins from three in their warm-up matches.
Barça started the game brightly and took the lead in the 25th minute when Yamal finished off a good move involving Ansu Fati and Pedri. The Blaugrana continued to dominate the game for the rest of the first half, but they were unable to add to their lead.
Olot came out more strongly in the second half and had a few chances to equalise, but Barça goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen was in good form and made a number of saves to keep his team ahead.
Gallagher scores for Atlético in friendly win over Numancia
Stefan Savić and Matt Doherty scored either side of half-time as Atlético Madrid beat Numancia 2-0 in a friendly on Saturday.
Stefan Savić headed home from a corner in the 38th minute to give Atlético the lead. Matt Doherty doubled the advantage in the 55th minute with a fine finish from outside the area.
Atlético were in control of the game for long periods and could have won by more, but they were denied by some good saves from Numancia goalkeeper Dani Barrio.
What does this mean for Barça and Atlético?
Barça's 100% record in pre-season will give them confidence ahead of the start of the new season. The Blaugrana have looked sharp in their three warm-up matches and will be hoping to continue their good form when they face Real Madrid in the Joan Gamper Trophy on 24 August.
Atlético's win over Numancia was their second in pre-season, following a 1-0 victory over Real Oviedo last week. The Rojiblancos will be hoping to build on their positive start to pre-season when they face Manchester United in a friendly on 30 July.
